The firm was originally established by HG Jefferies. The office was based in Alexandra Street, Southend-on-Sea.
David Elman set up practice in London Road, Southend-on-Sea as Elman Arnold & Co.
The two firms were practising separately. Elman Arnold merged with Lee Flint & Co was known as Elman Flint & Co.
Elman Flint & Co moved from former premises to Metropolitan House, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea.
Elman Flint & Co and H J Jefferies merge and the firm practices from Metropolitan House as Elman Flint Jefferies & Co.
Elman Flint Jefferies & Co chose to streamline the firm’s name to Jefferies as it was well-known amongst the Southend community.
The firm moved to Courtway House offices, Hamlet Court Road.
The firm became a Limited Liability Partnership under the Jefferies Essex LLP, albeit still trading as Jefferies.
On 8th May the offices were totally destroyed by a fire which started in the supermarket below the firm’s offices. With a clear contingency plan in place the firm quickly relocated to its new premises at Dencora Court, Tylers Avenue, Southend-on-Sea. Although the fire was devastating at the time – the firm remains incredibly grateful to its employees and the local community who worked together to defy the odds and re-build.
The firm has grown from strength to strength and is continuing to expand in terms of legal services offerings and number of staff to support our increasing client base.
The firm open their London office in 9 Devonshire Square.
